The Top stories of today’s Hindustan Times.

It seems unlikely that the urban policy and planning blunders that have been wrought on existing Gurgaon will be overcome anytime soon.

It seems unlikely that the urban policy and planning blunders that have been wrought on existing Gurgaon will be overcome anytime soon.

The newer sectors in the Gurgaon Urban Complex Masterplan (see the map here) have the potential to make a clean and fresh start with regards to urban planning. The problems plaguing the existing town of Gurgaon can be avoided in these newer sectors as the administration implements the lessons learnt.

It thus makes more sense to move towards the upcoming locations like Sector 109 and its vicinity. All these newer sectors will primarily be developed by private builders first, and as they get stronger feedback from the marketplace about the minimum standards that the builders have to maintain, the quality of life that they must provide will continue to improve.

Noida & Greater Noida face a strong perception of weak enforcement of law and order.

The propensity to violence in Uttar Pradesh (including Noida & Greater Noida) is one major reason why the real estate investors in residential and commercial projects prefer to invest their money in Gurgaon (Haryana) compared to the other towns in the NCR (National Capital Region) area.
